THIEVES targeted sheds, garages and allotments across East Tynedale in a spate of burglary and damage offences during the Bank Holiday weekend.

Offenders attempted to force open six sheds at homes in Ovingham overnight on Friday with an alarm activated at one of locations at 12.45am on Saturday.

Police have received reports from residents at Windsor Crescent, Burnside Close, Croft View, Dene Close, and Piper Road. Tools and sports equipment were stolen from two of the sheds.

A garage door was damaged in an attempted burglary on South Road in Prudhoe overnight on Sunday, but nothing was stolen.

Finally, between Saturday and Monday, two sheds were burgled at the Castle Dene allotments in Prudhoe. Items stolen include an Eckman rotavator and a hammer drill. Anyone with any information should contact the neighbourhood policing team on 101.
