PRUDHOE Community Allotments in Redwell Court is holding its annual plant sale tomorrow between 10am and 2pm. Come early for your pick of healthy young plants at reasonable prices.

SUNDAY sees the return of the Prudhoe Community Fair on Front Street. Beginning at 11.55am, the dragon parade leaves from the East Centre, arriving on the Glade at 12.05pm.

The whole street will be buzzing from midday until 4pm with entertainers, fun fair rides, food and craft stalls run by local groups. The parish hall will be open too, where the ladies will be serving afternoon teas to raise money for church funds.

TOMORROW, in St Mary Magdalene’s Church Hall, Kathleen Batey will have her cake and tombola stalls from 10am until midday to raise more funds for RP Fighting Blindness.

Kathleen will be a very busy lady this month. She has a date to meet the Duchess of Northumberland at Alnwick Castle on June 15, in connection with her charity work and she will also spend an hour at No. 10 with Samantha Cameron on June 28.

Kathleen has spent many years raising thousands of pounds for RP Fighting Blindness and she really deserves this recognition.

TOP marks to the council for recycling all of the spring bulbs from its flower beds by putting out notices telling residents to take what they wanted for their gardens while the workmen were re-planting the plots. There should be some wonderful displays of pink tulips in the town next spring.

DANCE with Mammy is a new dance session for parents, grandparents and toddlers aged 18 months to three years. It plans to meet in the parish hall.

I STARTED writing this column a year ago today and I can’t believe the number of fantastic events that have happened in Prudhoe during that year. I’m looking forward to the next year.
