RUTH Turner’s petition for the re-location of six houses in the Prudhoe Hospital grounds raised over 150 signatures. Hopefully, this will encourage the planners to re-think the site.

THE Citizens’ Advice Bureau is open Monday to Friday, on the first floor of the Spetchells Centre.

Monday, Wednesday and Friday are by appointment only, but on Tuesday and Thursday anyone is welcome to drop in, from 10am until 2pm.

There is a lift for anyone who can’t manage the stairs; the friendly women in the library will point you in the right direction.

WATCH out for the touring display of photographs working its way around Prudhoe, from late August to October.

The pictures are of all the local events which took place during Community Arts Week in May/June this year.They have been put together by the Prudhoe Community Events Support Group and you may be on them if you were there.

SHEILA’S Movements to Music class is back on after her holiday. It is held in the back room of the Legion, behind Front Street, every Monday (except bank holidays) from 1.30pm until 2.30pm.

It is a small, friendly class, specifically for the over 50s - so nothing too strenuous.

DID you know that Prudhoe has a credit union and it is open for business on Thursday, from 10am until noon, at the Spetchells Centre on Front Street.

If you want to put a small amount of money away each week or borrow some after you have joined, the people there will be glad to help you.

THE women of St Mary Magdalene’s Church hold their tea and coffee mornings at the church hall on Front Street on Thursday and Saturday mornings, from 9am until 11.30am.

They serve delicious homemade scones and cakes and you can always pick up a book or two on the bric-a-brac tables.

THIS is an early reminder about Prudhoe Gardeners’ Association 51st Town Show, which runs over two days - Saturday, September 5 and Sunday, September 6.

There will be classes for flowers, vegetables, home baking, jams and preserves and handicrafts, plus lots of junior sections.

The show is aided by Prudhoe Town Council and supported by lots of local businesses. All entries are free.

Booklets and posters about the show are doing the rounds now, so if you are interested please pick one up.
