A PRUDHOE soft play business is warning customers about offers available on an online voucher site, which it said were put up without its consent.

The Fun Station on Station Road said it has become aware that customers were able to sign up for vouchers for the soft play from the website kidsvouchers.co.uk.

But owner Laura Madl, who took on the business last year, said the Fun Station had never been in negotiations with the website and had never heard of it until a customer came in to use the digital voucher offering 2 for 1 entry.

Other businesses listed on the site have also spoken out on social media after being listed on kids vouchers.co.uk without their knowledge, including the Ark@Crawcrook, and Laura said she has spoken to several others who have been affected.

She said: “There’s obviously going to be bad feeling there if a customer is coming in expecting to pay for only one child, and that’s really upsetting for us as a business.

“But I can’t honour that voucher because putting it through is like saying that this is fine and we are happy with it, when we are not.

“As much as we do promotions and things, this is not a promotion we have run and we have no control over it. It’s a massive concern because it seems to be affecting businesses everywhere, from North and South Shields to Sunderland and Newcastle.”

While it appears that customers were not asked to pay for the vouchers online, they were required to sign up as a member and enter details such as their email address and phone number.

The Fun Station said it was hoping to group together with other businesses and take the issue to trading standards.

A Northumberland County Council spokeswoman said: “Trading standards has not been made aware of any complaints about this website as of yet, but if people pass complaints on to us, we are happy to look into them.”
