PRUDHOE partnership schools are seeking to secure a sustainable future for education in East Tynedale.

Discussions have taken place between partnership schools, considering how to strengthen ties.

Prudhoe Partnership of Schools includes schools in Prudhoe, Ovingham, Mickley, Wylam and Stocksfield. The group of schools have committed to work together to combine strengths.

Headteacher of Prudhoe Community High School, Deborah Reeman said: “Our commitment as always is to getting the very best for our community of schools.

“While there have been some initial discussions and meetings with a view to seeing a long-term and sustainable future for our Prudhoe partnership schools, there are no definite proposals.”

If a multi-academy trust is formed, Prudhoe would become the latest in a growing list of Tynedale’s schools turning to the solution.

A MAT is a single entity established to undertake a strategic collaboration across a group of schools.

In August 2016 Hexham’s Queen Elizabeth High School and Hexham Middle School became a MAT; Hadrian Learning Trust.

And last week Hexham’s two Catholic schools united as a federation. St Joseph’s Middle School and St Mary’s First School will operate under the guidance of a single governing body.
