PRUDHOE students are going for gold as their high school’s career service receives a top accolade.

Prudhoe Community High School has achieved stage three of the Inspiring Information Advice & Guidance award – a national quality award.

The award is given to schools in recognition of the quality of their careers education and guidance.

The awards assessor was said to be impressed by the dedication of the school’s careers team: assistant headteacher Kath Williams, careers advisor Mrs McStravick and PSCHE co-ordinator Ms Underwood.

Mrs Williams said: “I am delighted we have been awarded Stage 3 of Inspiring IAG. It is a fantastic accolade for the school and its students.”

Prudhoe Community High School said that careers education, information, advice and guidance (CEIAG) is at the heart of the school’s curriculum and supported by all staff.

The school’s action plan included the development of CEIAG space on their website, maximising employer engagement through working alongside local businesses and developing a bespoke “World of Work” week for Year 10.
