NORTHUMBRIAN Water will appear in court charged with polluting a Wylam watercourse.

The company was represented at Newcastle Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, to answer charges that, on or before February 2 last year, it discharged sewage into Park Burn, in Wylam.

It is accussed of being in contravention to the requirements of an environmental permit in place.

The case has been adjourned and the company will return to Newcastle Magistrates’ Court on November 29.
