FAMILIES headed out for hours of fun on Wednesday as youngsters enjoyed Prudhoe’s annual Playday.

Wednesday marked national Playday, an event which sees children and their families across the UK come together to celebrate play.

Prudhoe Children’s Centre has organised the town’s Playday for eight years, and this year’s celebrations saw 200 youngsters and their families head to Eastwoods Park to enjoy fun, games and activities including fairground games, face painting, bouncy castles and crafts.

As well as encouraging children and their families to play, the day also drew attention to healthy messages.

There was a danger hunt, where children had to search the park for hidden dangers, and fun ways to find out about smoking, healthy eating and playing safely. Local health visitors and nurseries and came along, while businesses such as the Co-op and Greggs donated food.
