A WYLAM wonder woman has raised nearly £1,500 for a cancer charity whilst undergoing treatment herself.
Penny Reed organised a special ladies’ night charity event and has so far raised £1,465 for Breast Cancer Care.
And determined to help as many people as she can, Penny plans to raise £10,000 over the next five years.
Penny (53), was diagnosed with breast cancer in November last year. From December to the end of March, Penny underwent six gruelling sessions.
She said: “The fatigue was horrendous. I spent my days on the couch at home. But I’m a doer, sitting around on my bum wasn’t my style.”
At the ladies’ night, guests were encouraged to bring old or unwanted bras and Penny now has more than 100 which will be handed over to Oxfam.
She said: “I’ve been overwhelmed by people’s generosity. The evening was fantastic.”
