A GROUP of Prudhoe-based gents are getting together on Saturday for a mega rounders match to raise money for two close-to-home charities.

The team of 12 friends will be completing a 12-hour long rounders and softball match at at Eastwood Park in Prudhoe on the field and football pitch area, to raise money for the Royal British Legion and The Grafters Club at the RVI in Newcastle.

One of the group, Craig Sewell, said: “A number of the group are ex services people, so that’s why we chose the Royal British Legion.

“The Grafters Club is a burns unit at the RVI, and one of the group members’ son suffered from burns earlier this year and had to use the unit so it’s hugely important to us.

“We like to do things to give something back and help out charities.

“This time last year we did a walk from Prudhoe to Newcastle which was hard work but rewarding. This is something everyone can get involved with, and we welcome anyone to come along.”

The group will split up into two teams and rotate throughout the 12 hours, and they are hoping that local people will drop by throughout the day too.

The mega rounders and softball match will run from 7am until 7pm on Saturday, December 10 and everyone is invited to go along, get involved and donate.
