PRUDHOE Post Office could be on the move if townspeople give the relocation their stamp of approval.

The Post Office is proposing to move the well-used facility a few yards down Front Street to the former Franks for Flooring premises. Subject to a six-week consultation, the plan is to create a modern branch with extended opening hours.

The new post office would have three serving positions and the same range of post office services would remain on offer. If approved, the branch would be open from 9am to 5.30pm Monday to Saturday – an extra 12 hours 30 minutes every week.

Regional manager, Simon Drinkwater said: “We understand how important having a post office is to residents of Prudhoe and we are confident that this new modern service will meet the needs of the local community and secure services for the future.

“This modernisation is part of a major investment programme, the largest in the history of the Post Office and marks a commitment to no more branch closures.”
