A WYLAM walkway washed away by the force of last winter’s storms could be re-instated.

The riverside path at the eastern end of Stephenson Terrace was substantially eroded during Storm Desmond last December, and later closed for safety reasons.

Dunelm Geotechnical & Environmental Ltd has been commissioned to carry out a ground investigation to explore the subsidence issues.

A Northumberland County Council spokesman said: “We are awaiting the outcome of the investigation, after which time we will be able to determine what future works might be feasible to reinstate the path.”
