HORSLEY Village Church service on Sunday will be led by the congregation.

AT the Lion and Lamb, Horsley, on Saturday, October 31, there will be a children’s Hallowe’en disco, bubble machine and magic show from 3pm.

Fancy dress prizes will be awarded along with free sweets and witches brew. There will be Hallowe’en decorations throughout the venue. Then later for the adults at 9pm is the Ricky Moore Hypnotist Show.

ON Sunday, November 1, there will be a quiz night at the Lion and Lamb at 7.30pm. Book your team in now for the chance to win first prize of £75, second prize of £50 and third prize of £25. Plus spot prizes thoughout the night.

AT the Hearth Arts Centre, on Friday, October 16, at 7.30pm, is Honey on the Thorn, stories to tell in music and song with voices, flute and piano. Free entry, with a retiring collection for rebuilding Simigaon school in Nepal. Please bring a donation small or large!

ON Thursday, October 29, in the Hearth, at 7.30pm there will be a talk on Air traffic control at Newcastle – A half-century of service, by Steve Cox.

Steve Cox has 46 years’ experience in air traffic control in the UK and abroad and worked at Newcastle Airport until a few years ago.

In this talk he will illustrate the occupation of an air traffic controller, why they are needed and how they work, including a selection of personal photographs and anecdotes in what promises to be an informative and fascinating evening.

IT was reported last January that, due to lack of use, the two village telephone boxes will be removed. However there is still no date set for this to happen.
