LOCAL musicians are being given the opportunity to perform on the same bill as the likes of the Pet Shop Boys and The Libertines.

For organisers behind the new Festival on the Wall, to take place at Northside Farm, in Horsley, for the first time in August, have teamed up with the O2 Academy Newcastle, to promote talented bands and solo artists from the North-East.

The popular music venue will have its own emerging artists’ stage at the festival, and budding musicians can apply to be part of the event over the weekend of August 4.

The competition is open to unsigned acts, or those signed to a local record label, and entrants need to send a biography, photograph and link to some of their music by email to: mail@o2academynewcastle.co.uk by Monday, March 6.

Festival founder and director Dale Mason said: “Ultimately, Festival on the Wall is a festival for the North-East, so we were really keen to create opportunities for local talent to have a chance to follow in the footsteps of our headline artists.”
