PRUDHOE’s memorial parade will pass through a sea of poppies on Sunday, thanks to the hard work of volunteers.

Lamp posts on Front Street have been adorned with large street poppies creating a poignant red walkway through the town.

Prudhoe’s Co-op Funeralcare supports the Prudhoe branch of the Royal British Legion with their poppy drop-offs, and funeral director Jed Devlin came up with the idea after seeing a similar display in Burnopfield a few years ago.

“I thought it was a fantastic idea – they looked absolutely stunning.

“I mentioned it to Irene Davis from the Prudhoe branch of the British Legion, and we ordered 120. We decided to focus them on Front Street and outside the schools.

Members of Corbridge’s branch of the Royal British Legion have also hung poppies throughout the village to mark Remembrance Day.
