Festival on Wall cancelled
MUSIC fans were disappointed this week after the shock cancellation of Tynedale’s Festival on the Wall.
Breaking the news on Tuesday, organisers cited “significant operational challenges” for the decision. Those who have already purchased tickets for the festival are due to receive an automatic refund within five days.
Festival founder and director Dale Mason, and business partner Richard Gillies, had hoped that Festival on the Wall would be the “happiest festival in the UK”.
The Pet Shop Boys, The Libertines and Mark Ronsen were among the acts lined up to perform at the event at Northside Farm, near Horsley.
The event, which had been planned to take place in August, had been welcomed by Northumberland County Council and Northumberland Tourism.
Speaking at the launch event earlier in the year, council leader, Coun. Grant Davey said the festival could bring “several million’ to the local economy”.
