A special Book of Remembrance has been presented to the
town’s library at the Spetchells Centre.
Its pages are filled with the names of those from the area who fell during World War One, World War Two and all subsequent conflicts.
With over 1,200 names, the book also lists all those who served in the forces and survived.
Creating the book has been a labour of love for Prudhoe History Society members, Len Franchetti and William Rochester.
The duo have spent the past two years painstakingly scouring church records and researching any names that may have been omitted from the town’s war memorials.
Chairman of the history society, David Walker, said: “It began with the work to update the lych gate and Len and Bill were so enthusiastic they kept going and found more and more names.
“It is a fantastic resource for the town to have.”
