At last week’s meeting, councillors agreed to request the transfer of the play areas at both Riding Dene and Eastwood Park.
Town mayor and chairman of the town council, Coun. Jennifer McGee said: “I think the management and maintenance of the play areas would benefit by transferring. I think we could do a better job.”
Councillors agreed to formally request that Northumberland County Council considers transferring the assets and their management to the town council.
Coun. Glenn Simpson added: “We’ve been discussing this for a long time. I think from the town council’s perspective, it’s the right approach.”
