SUMMER events are well under way in Prudhoe and the town’s Highfield Fest is next on the calendar.

The event will take place on Prudhoe’s Highfield Park on Sunday, from 11am to 5pm.

Younger guests will be well catered for, with Happy Faces Youth Group providing messy play of slime and gloop in their tent, while Prudhoe Plodders will be holding some fun races.

And Prudhoe Youth Club’s football club will be bringing along their target football range and speed football challenge for some friendly and competitive fun.

A dedicated toddler zone with inflatables and a small children’s ride are being brought along by NBK Leisure.

And for older children, there will be a giant millennium slide, bouncy castles, a demolition zone, crazy golf, total wipe-out and – new for this year – rodeo sheep.

Julie’s Facepainting is always a firm favourite at the show, and almost always has a queue of eager youngsters.

As always, Prudhoe’s very own Mister Disco Man will make sure the air is filled with summertime tunes and will act as master of ceremonies for the event.

Prudhoe East Motor Project, which recently took its kit car to Highfield Middle School as part of STEM Day (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) will be bringing it along to the festival in the hope of encouraging young people into a STEM career or hobby.

And Prudhoe Pathforce will be out promoting the miles of walks to do in and around Prudhoe, as well as running a special treasure hunt for Highfield Fest. This year, the scooter competition is being organised by Island Extreme, a scooter specialist from the Isle of Wight. Refreshments will be available throughout the day.
