The town is representing Northumbria – an area from Berwick in the north to Cleveland in the south and Greenhead in the west – in the small town category of the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Britain in Bloom UK Finals.
RHS judges will visit on Friday to assess the floral displays and general cleanliness of Ponteland and Darras Hall.
The floral displays include a giant poppy on Coates Green commemorating the 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War.
A bug hotel has been created by pupils from Ponteland, Richard Coates and Darras Hall primary schools and the town council.
And a litter pick and street clean were organised by the town council to maintain the cleanliness of the area.
Ponteland secured a silver gilt award in the ‘small towns’ category in its first entry to Britain in Bloom last year, after five consecutive gold awards in the ‘small towns’ category in Northumbria in Bloom.
