FIRE crews worked under darkness to get a barn blaze under control in Belsay.

Just before midnight on Thursday, November 10 Northumberland Fire and Rescue service were alerted to a fire at Shortflatt Farm.

Four fire engines attended, two from Northumberland and two from North Tyneside. They spent some time tackling the large fire in the barn, filled with straw and machinery. The fire burned overnight. By the morning it was considered safe enough to be left.
