STUDENTS from Ponteland High School have recently taken to the stage in an extravagant performance to showcase their acting talents.

The students performed in a spine-tingling version of DNA by Dennis Kelly.

They turned the drama studio into a woodland forest, decorating the floor with more than 2,000 artificial leaves, and creating atmospheric lighting and a number of woodland sounds.

Drama and performing arts teacher Emma Lee, who directed the performance, said: “The pupils were all incredibly focused throughout the rehearsal process.

“And this definitely showed in their final performances.

“It was great to see pupils working collaboratively across the different year groups and the enthusiasm they had towards supporting each other to achieve their end goal.”

The year 13 cast was made up of Adina Birbeck, Tia Hall, Oliver Jennings, Ellen McBean, Matthew Nicholson, Kate Parkhouse, Alex Tolman and Catherine Young.

They were joined by two year 11 students, Kyle Yates and Jack Wallace, alongside three year 12 students, Izzy Viney, Andrew Potter and Meenoo Razeai, while Tom Kelly in year 10 helped with lighting and sound.
