DEVELOPERS of the controversial Dissington Garden Village say plans are still in the running, despite not featuring on a newly-announced Government list.
The bid to build a 2,000-home garden village near Ponteland were submitted to Northumberland County Council on December 22.
This was after developer Lugano Property submitted an ‘expression of interest’ for the site to be one of the country’s new garden villages.
But the scheme has not been included in the first wave of 14 garden villages and towns across the country which have received Government backing.
Lugano chairman Richard Robson said: “We were not expecting Dissington to be included in this first announcement because we need to be a little further on in relation to the planning process but we are in engaged in a very positive dialogue with the Department of Communities and Local Government (DCLG) and are confident that the proposals will be included in a subsequent announcement.”
