CHILDREN, teachers and parents at Belsay First School took part in the Great British Spring Clean to get prepared for a new school building in the summer.
Belsay First School will become a primary from September, as part of the switch from a three-tier to a two-tier school system in Ponteland.
Work will begin on the new building on April 10, so the school is sprucing up its gardens in preparation.
Last Friday, the older children packed up the greenhouse while other children kept the wildlife area tidy and worked on the nature trail.
Acting headteacher Clare Cantwell said: “It was a real community activity where the children got involved and parents came along too.
“Cowell’s of Woolsington garden centre donated flowers and the children decided they wanted to plant the flowers we were donated in the gazebo area.”
Several events took part across Tynedale as part of Great British Spring Clean.
