THE planning committee of Ponteland Town Council meets on Tuesday, June 30 at 10am.

ON Wednesday, July 1 the U3A meets at St Mary’s Church hall at 2pm for a talk by Norman Kirtlan entitled A day in the life of a forensic artist. Visitors and new members are always welcome.

THE Ponteland branch of the Northumberland Wildlife Trust is organising a bird spotting walk on Friday, July 3 at Watergate Park and woods, off the A692 near Sunniside.

THE Mayor of Ponteland is seeking litter pickers to join the faithful band who have already volunteered.

PONTELAND High School’s Charlotte Ash has been selected by British Showjumping as a member of the pony squad representing GB in Germany.

She will ride Aughnashammer, her mother’s 11-year-old bay gelding.

Also from Ponteland High School, Theo Fisher is excelling in karate, winning in the individual 15-17 male kumite at the Sunderland Karate Championships which included entrants from Leeds, York, Newcastle, Northumberland and Sunderland.

Congratulations to both Charlotte and Theo who are also busy with their exams.
