PONTELAND Repertory Society celebrated its 90th anniversary in style, with a programme of music and comedy covering its whole lifespan.

For three nights, the amateur dramatics group enjoyed a full house at Ponteland Memorial Hall.

During the performances, pieces from various shows it has produced over the years were once again brought to the stage.

The youth theatre, Preppies, filled the first half of the show with songs from Annie and The Sound of Music, while Lucy Walton led them as Maria in Do-Re- Mi.

Musical director Deborah Barry was responsible for the direction of soloists and chorus from My Fair Lady , Oklahoma and South Pacific, while pianist Kyle Richardson gave a rendition of Some Enchanted Evening .

A spokeswoman for Ponteland Repertory Society said: “Our audiences were, as always, enthusiastic and appreciative, giving us lots of applause.

“Their loyal support is much appreciated by the Rep and keeps our community society alive and looking to the future.”
