KIRKLEY Hall near Ponteland is bracing itself for over 4,000 visitors on Sunday as it hosts a free family fun day to celebrate the 25th anniversary of The Children’s Foundation.

The event, from 10am until 4pm, coincides with the launch of the charity‘s latest campaign Because Minding Matters which aims to raise awareness and funds for child and adolescent well being in the North-East and Cumbria.

A zip wire, lawn games, dance workshops, treasure hunt and visits from superheroes and princesses are all planned.

And staff from Seven Stories are lined up to transform woodland into a magical fairytale land and there will be half price access to Kirkley Hall Zoo.

Libby Nolan, fund-raising manager at The Children’s Foundation said: “It’s great to be able to celebrate our 25 year anniversary with families who are the next generation of Yellow Brick Road supporters.

”Without their help we wouldn’t be able to reach as many children and young people as we do.“
