A HEDDON-on-the-Wall breast cancer survivor is undertaking her latest mission to raise money for a national charity.

Katie Little (36) was diagnosed with stage two breast cancer in 2014 at the age of 33, and through supporting CoppaFeel, she wants to raise awareness that the disease affects young people too.

After completing two Great North Runs for the charity, her latest venture is a ‘Booby Prize’ raffle to raise further funds.

Following a whirlwind year of treatment, Katie’s last few check-ups have been all clear and she is now down to attending six-monthly check-ups.

Katie said: “I was diagnosed with breast cancer at quite a young age, and a lot of the messages I received when I went to get checked out were that I was too young to have breast cancer and not to worry.

“There’s not a lot of awareness out there for young people and CoppaFeel is a charity aimed at younger people, trying to get the message out that it can affect them and that they should check for the signs. That really fits with my own experience, so in supporting them I hope to raise awareness of that issue.”

After contacting local businesses for support, Katie has had a phenomenal response from people wanting to help with her raffle.

Businesses have donated prizes such as one night’s dinner, bed and breakfast at Matfen Hall with a bottle of prosecco, afternoon tea for two with prosecco at The Parlour in Blagdon and a Fenwick food hall hamper, as well as event tickets and vouchers.

Katie added: “I was blown away by the number of donations and some of them are amazing prizes. I want as many people as possible to get involved, not only to raise money and awareness for CoppaFeel, but to be in with a chance of winning the amazing prizes.”
