MANY of you may not know that the Heddon Ramblers are still going after 26 years.

The first walk the group completed was in August 1989, with 12 people.

Over the years, the group became extremely popular and in one November gained 65 people, meaning two coaches travelled to the Lake District.

Over the years, the numbers have reduced considerably, meaning only 12 residents meet each month, it is looking for more people to join them.

They meet on the first Sunday of each month at 9am in the car park behind Dingle Dell to convoy by car to the starting point. Anyone is welcome to join and are reminded to bring appropriate clothing and drinks.

The average walk ranges from five to seven miles and this year’s walks have taken them to Tynemouth, Whitley Bay, Morpeth, Beamish and Allendale.

HEDDON Women’s Institute is holding its next meeting on Monday, October 5, at 7pm.

This will be a demonstration on card making.

Why not go along and perhaps design your own personalised Christmas or birthday cards.

Everyone is welcome and last month, the group welcomed three new members.

DON’T forget that Heddon Art Group’s 40th annual exhibition is tomorrow, from 11am until 4pm, in the WI hall.

All are welcome. Home-made refreshments will be served all day.
