PONTELAND businesses have come together to raise over £900 for local youngster Kian Musgrove.

Kian’s family are currently racing to raise the hundreds of thousands of pounds to send the three-year-old to America for specialist relapse treatment.

Last October, Kian was diagnosed with cancer for the second time in his young life.

Mum Kat Musgrove is spearheading the Caring for Kian campaign to fund expensive relapse treatment only available overseas.

In Ponteland, Q Hair Design and the Post Box cafe organised a charity hair show last week that raised over £900 for the cause.

Emma and Angela Bailey, both directors at Q Hair Design, had been following Kian’s story and wanted to help the toddler.

Emma said: “We wanted to do something to help get him the treatment he needs.

“The tickets starting selling fast as soon as we started to advertise it.

“And on top of a sold-out event, we received many generous additional donations and raffle prizes from individuals and local businesses, so we were really overwhelmed.”

The event, hosted at the Post Box cafe, saw guests enjoy prosecco and canapes and featured hair styling demonstrations from the creative team at Q Hair Design.

Alex Kinsey, one of the owners of Post Box, said: “Emma’s idea to do a hair show to raise money was a brilliant idea and we were only too pleased to offer Post Box as the venue.

“It was a great evening with a lovely atmosphere and a fantastic amount was raised for Kian.”

Among the prizes won on the evening were a luxury BMW for the weekend, courtesy of Coopers of Durham, dinner at the Fratelli restaurant, and spa treatments from Behind the Scenes, Ponteland.
