A CHARITY golf day has raised £3,800 to support disabled people and their families and carers at Calvert Trust Kielder.

The annual Calvert Trust golf day was held at Ponteland Golf Club and sponsored by businesses Brewin Dolphin, Patricia Arnold and last year’s winners, Rainton Construction.

The game involved 36 players across nine teams, including local businesses Handelsbanken and Garwen Enterprises and the Royal Grammar School.

They battled it out for the Calvert Cup, with the eventual winners declared as Apex Radio.

Team captain Ian Curry said: “We all had a great day. We’re pleased that we can help fund the great work that Calvert Trust Kielder does and we’re proud to support them – the golf was a bonus!”

Charlotte Crumbley, a fund-raiser at Calvert Trust Kielder, organised the event. She said: “This year’s golf day was another resounding success with a fantastic effort from all those involved and a fantastic amount of money raised for the charity.

“The support of local businesses is absolutely vital for Calvert Trust Kielder. The time they give, donations they make and funds they generate means we can continue our work with disabled adults and children. Everyone at Calvert Trust Kielder is very grateful.”

The next big fund-raiser for Calvert Trust Kielder is The Calvert Ball, a glittering evening of food, wine and entertainment, which will take place on October 13.
