ORGANISERS of a village fete are gearing up for another successful year.

Cambo will offer visitors to its annual day alpacas to admire, afternoon tea to sip, and tombolas to try their luck at, plus, hopefully, a little sunshine next month.

Running from 1pm to 4pm, on Saturday, July 4, the event will also feature a variety of stalls - including bric-a-brac, plants and second hand books - a quoits competition, ice cream and hot dog stands, a steam engine display and fencing demonstrations by the local fencing group.

There’ll be competitions for local schoolchildren including a mini five-a-side football tournament from 12.30pm, followed by children’s races.

Cooks will also be competing for the honour of making the best jam, cupcakes or scones.

Tickets for a raffle will be on sale during the day.

The event is in aid of the village hall and will be officially opened by local resident Robin Dower, grandson of Wallington Hall owner Sir Charles Trevelyan.
