A total of 19 vehicles were stopped and checked in the Belsay, Stamfordham Road and Horsley areas last Wednesday, under operation Paw Paw.
Seven people were issued with DVSA warnings for worn cars – including tyre and mechanical defects – while one person was cautioned by police for trailer-related offences.
