A FUND-RAISING barbecue is being planned to raise money for a North-East facility which cared for a much-loved Ponteland man.

The event, in aid of St Oswald’s Hospice in Gosforth, is being spearheaded by Ann Cooper, whose husband Bob died at St Oswald’s in December 2016 following a battle with cancer.

Ann said: “Many of us within the church have benefited directly from the amazing work that St Oswald’s does and wanted to give something back.” Bob was looked after by an incredible nursing team at St Oswald’s during his final days.”

There will also be a raffle, children’s games, a tombola, guess the name of the giant monkey, a toddler area, St Oswald’s stall and music from Robson’s Choice Northumbrian pipers. The event will be held in Ponteland Methodist Church’s garden, where Bob served as a steward and preacher, from 12pm on Sunday, July 8.
