PONTELAND Repertory Society has been nominated for a string of prestigious awards by the National Operatic and Dramatic Association.

The society has been nominated for the best show award for its production of The King and I in November last year.

Deborah Barry, an experienced member of the society, who played Anna in the production, and Zoe Buckthrop have also been nominated for individual awards.

And Amber Covington has been nominated in the youth awards section for Four Weddings and an Elvis , which was the spring production earlier this year.

Members of the society will find out how they have done when the winners are announced at the NODA Presidential Gala and AGM in Wokingham, Berkshire, on September 22.

Lesley Eltringham, publicity officer for the society, said: “We couldn’t be more delighted that our local amateur theatre group continues to be nominated for awards by the National Operatic and Dramatic Association.

“The support of our community, local press and social media platforms is much appreciated by the society.”
