THE PONTELAND Wildlife Group has donated £500 towards the Northumberland Wildlife Trust’s Hauxley Reserve bird watching hide.
The group were supported by a donation for their own hide from the Wildlife Trust over 20 years ago, and wanted to return the favour and maintain the strong link. The money raised came from the donations made by members attending group meetings and walks.
Accepting the cheque from Ponteland Group Chair Chris Wright, Alex Lister, Northumberland Wildlife Trust Druridge Bay Living Landscapes Manager, said: "This is a very welcome surprise from the Ponteland Group and I am delighted its members wanted to maintain their strong links with us and keep their Ponteland Hide going for a few more years to come."
The Group has been in existence for 44 years, and meets once a month.
Northumberland Wildlife Trust manages and protects critical species and habitats at over 60 nature reserves throughout Newcastle, North Tyneside and Northumberland.
