REPEAT PERFORMANCE BY PRINCESS ANNE

THRIFTY Princess Anne, known for recycling her outfits, was true to form on Monday when she turned up to open Hexham’s new pool wearing the same ensemble she wore on her last visit to the town two years ago.
In November 2006, she visited the Save the Children charity shop in the town, sporting the same blue skirt, long length blue tweed jacket and knee-high boots.
But she pulled off the fashion faux-pas with elegant grace and the gathered crowds were still delighted to see her.
Scores of local school children surrounded the pool to cheer and wave flags as the Princess took a tour of Hexham’s newest sporting facilities.
Daughter of the pool’s deputy manager, Amy Bewick, presented the Princess with a bouquet of pink roses and the six-year-old looked delightful in a lilac party dress.
Once inside, the Princess was treated to a display by some of the user groups, including Tynedale Amateur Swimming Club and the Healthy Life class.
Chairman of Tynedale Council Coun. Janet Somerville said: “It has been a wonderful day and I cannot express how pleased I am with this new facility. It’s out of this world.”
