THERE will be a North Tyne connection to the swearing-in of American president elect Barack Obama later this month.WYLAM is set for an environmentally friendly post-Christmas cleanup.SEASON four of the South Tyne Cinema Circuit will come to a close next Friday, January 9, at the Twice Brewed Inn, near Bardon Mill.VOLUNTEERS from the Cancer Research UK shop in Hexham raised £299 during a bag pack in Robb’s food hall on December 19.COMMUNITY groups in Tynedale are being encouraged to apply for funding from Community Action Northumberland in conjunction with the Community Foundation.

For poet Elizabeth Alexander, who will read the inaugural poem at the lavish ceremony, is on the books of Tarset-based publishers Bloodaxe Books.

It was Bloodaxe who first published her in Britain, with American Blue: Selected Poems in 2006.

Anyone who bought a Christmas tree from Wylam Nurseries this year can take it back to be recycled between January 5 and January 12.

Christmas card recycling boxes will also be placed in Wylam Institute in support of the Woodland Trust’s scheme.

The French black comedy Delicatessen will be shown.

The Grassroots Grant was developed to help with everything from buying new equipment to staff and training costs.
