Greenhead news

A LIVELY end to this week – starting with the Christmas whist drive on Thursday at 7.30pm.

The hall has been fabulously decorated by volunteers together with the youth club members and the Twinkletots .

ON FRIDAY, December 12, we welcome the growing number of film-goers to the last screening of this autumn’s season of the South Tyne Cinema Circuit.
Persepolis will be the first animated film we have shown – and it is definitely not Disney!
It tells the story of a young girl growing up in Iran throughout its turbulent recent history, from the days of the Shah, through the Islamic Revolution and the eight-year war with Iraq to the present time. There will be appropriate refreshments afterwards. The film starts at 7.30pm. Tickets at the door.

ON SUNDAY, December 14, we have the Christmas Farmers’ Market featuring about 20 stalls offering a wonderful array of seasonal foods and crafts produced by local people.
Goods range from Christmas trees to festive table runners, an impressive selection of meats, free range chickens, jams, chutneys and local beers, to name but a small selection.
Also on sale will be crafts including walking sticks, jewellery, soaps and creams, gift packs of various foods, textiles and woollen jumpers. The fun starts promptly at 10am and the market closes at 2pm.

ON Sunday afternoon, the children of the village will star in the Christingle service at St Cuthbert’s Church – now one of the highlights of the year when we all gather to begin this season of joy.
