IT’S a special walk this morning. Walkers meet at the parish hall at 9.30am, but non-walkers are very welcome to join in at the coffee stop at Dene House, Juniper from 10.45am.
Donations will be collected for Macmillan Cancer Support in memory of Jane Buchanan.
TOMORROW morning the St Helen’s Church market stall will be selling its wares in Hexham market. Thanks to insider knowledge I can tell you there will be chocolate cakes of renowned reputation to be had, alongside other delectable produce.
SUNDAY morning sees a rather special visitor dropping into the ’Shire to talk to the children at Whitley Chapel First School Christmas fair. Come along and sample a veritable feast of delights, craft stalls, hand-made decorations, cakes and refreshments.
There’ll be games for the children (and adults too), from Scalextric, to a thought-provoking quiz, face painting and, of course, Santa’s grotto!
Doors open at 10.30am, so come along and get into the seasonal swing, and relax over a cup of coffee and a mince pie.
ON Sunday, over a working breakfast at the vicarage, there will be discussions on the annual Nativity production. Please come along at 9.30am if you would like to take part – musicians, actors, actresses and angels. Animals, please give this rehearsal a miss.
LOCAL publishing company Wagtail Press has published a book by Jennifer Norderhaug on Sparty Lee. There will be a book signing at the Pebbles Gallery in Allendale this weekend.
ENJOY an evening of family fun at Whitley Chapel parish hall when Northumberland Theatre Company’s perform Straw Headed Peter, on Friday, December 12, at 7pm. For tickets contact Rob Gardner on (01434) 673483.
THERE will be a choir of angels at your doorstep shortly, for the young farmers are taking things very seriously this year and are getting some voice coaching from our Queen of Sing, Joy Trotter, before their annual carol singing around the ’Shire. Watch out for them in the second week of December.
