TONIGHT at the community centre, Shaftoe Chorale will be staging a Christmas concert. Singing will start at 7.30pm, admission is free and refreshments will be served.
Audience participation will be encouraged for the singing of Christmas carols and a collection for the PCDC will take place at the end of the evening. Everyone is invited to come along and get into the spirit of Christmas.
SPEAKING of which, how lovely do the trees look on the old bridge? A big thank you to everyone who gave up their time to make Sunday afternoon’s lighting up celebration so successful.
SHAFTOE First School will be holding a Christmas fair on Friday, December 12, after school, from 3.30pm until 5.30pm. There’ll be lots on offer to entertain everyone not just the children.
THEN on Saturday, St Cuthbert’s Church hold its Christmas fair in the church from 10am until noon. Tea, coffee and mince pies will be on sale and the grand raffle will be drawn.
PILATES and keep fit are on again this week with aerobics from 7pm until 8pm on Tuesday and pilates from 6.30pm until 7.30pm on Wednesday. Please note, there will be no classes during the week commencing December 14. Classes resume after the Christmas break in January.
WHAT a fantastic show the girls and boys from Clann Na Ngael Irish dance academy put on to a full house on Saturday afternoon!
The performance was repeated again in the evening with both audiences full of admiration for these talented and very fit youngsters. Katie Penny sang two beautiful songs while the dancers got their breath back. As for the mince pies and mulled wine, they certainly added to the day’s enjoyment. Good luck at the world championships for which this presentation was a fund-raiser.
THE coffee morning at the community centre will be hosted by the women’s institute on Saturday, with coffee or tea being served from 10am. There will no coffee morning at the community centre on Saturday, December 13 as the church fair will be on that day.
ON SUNDAY the Sunday School children, teachers and helpers will be visiting Haydon View rest home to sing carols for the residents and staff. Would all those involved please meet at 9.55am at the church to spend the first ten minutes at the morning service. The singers should be back at the church for 11.15am.
