THERE is no church service in Horsley this Sunday. Residents are invited to attend an open air service in Wylam at 10.15am. Transport will be available from Horsley.
THE Hearth arts centre has updated its information leaflet to comply with the suggestions given by VAQAS (quality assurance for visitor attractions).
The new leaflet is much more comprehensive than previous editions. A copy can be obtained at the Hearth or in tourist outlets.
There is a new number – 07971 948135 – for bookings and enquiries. The Hearth will continue to expand its activities and facilities in 2009.
There are summer art courses at the Hearth throughout August and September. It is still possible to enrol for a wide range of day courses. Details of all courses can be found at the Hearth or on the new website www.thehearth.co.uk
THE next meeting of Horsley Parish Council is scheduled for September 10 at 7.30pm in the Women’s Institute hall.
As usual there is an agenda item for members of the public to raise issues of concern and interest. Agenda items can also be forwarded to the parish clerk, Mandy Senior, at 7 Stonecrott, Horsley, or by e mail to mandysenior@supanet. com
THE harvest began in Horsley at the end of July and is likely to continue into September. With the increase of farm machinery through the village at this time of year visitors and residents are asked to park vehicles with care.
Two footpaths leading north from Horsley Hill and one between Holeyn Lane road and Horsley Banks Farm have been blocked by the rape seed crop.
The parish council has asked the countryside department at County Hall in Morpeth to investigate the problem and ensure the farmer concerned clears the footpaths.
DOG owners in Horsley can still obtain free bags for the disposal of their animals’ waste whilst out walking. The bags are provided free by Tynedale Council and can be collected from the Crown and Anchor.
Dog owners are asked to clear up after their animals rather than create a health hazard around the village and adjoining public rights of way.
