New Beacon Club talks

SEPTEMBER heralds the beginning of the autumn programme of the Hexham Beacon Club for retired men.
The first meeting is on September 3, when Ann Wilson will speak on the work of Guide Dogs for the Blind.
Ex-servicemen in the club will be particularly interested in the lecture on September 24, when Air Commodore Ian Forster will talk about Singapore, and the situation there prior to the Japanese invasion in the Second World War.
New members are welcome at the club, which meets every Wednesday morning at the Trinity church hall.
Its autumn programme is on display in Hexham Library.
