Wylam news

THE pre-school playgroup and baby and toddler group will be fund-raising over the summer holidays in aid of a new kitchen for the Falcon Centre.

If you have any children in this age group or any visiting young children please come and support our activities based at the centre.

ON TUESDAY, Wylam Toddler group will be running its normal session, but from 9.30am until 11.30am, hopefully incorporating some outside play, should the summer decide to return.  All pre-school children are welcome.

EVERY Friday in August between 10am and noon, junk modelling sessions will be held for first school and pre-school aged children.CAN you believe it? Wylam playgroup celebrates its 40th anniversary this year. The event follows on from the success of a stall at Wylam Fair and the children will have the opportunity to transform egg boxes, cardboard tubes and margarine tubs into lions, lizards, robots etc.

If anyone has any “junk” – such as margarine tubs, silver foil, milk bottle tops, egg boxes, scraps of material, wool or small cardboard boxes – that they could donate, please bring it to the Falcon Centre on a Tuesday or Friday morning in August, or contact Melanie for collection.

If anyone has any old photographs or any stories they would like to retell, please contact Melanie on (01661) 852106.

We are hoping to mark this momentous occasion with a display of old pictures in the Falcon Centre and at all playgroup events this coming academic year, as well as publish them on the playgroup page of the parish council website.

WYLAM Green Street Car Club officially kicked off last Friday with the arrival of the car in the village.  This is being advertised around the village in various locations over the next few weeks. Look out for it with the Green Street logo.

Many thanks for Doug at the Spar for letting Green Street promote the vehicle outside his shop. The car will have a permanent parking spot at Wylam Station.

Anyone wanting to join the car club should phone Andy or Gail on (01661) 854626 or send an email to wylamgreenstreet@hotmail.co.uk.

Year 3: Daniel Harkett. Year 4: Daniel O’Neill and Ovingham Middle School. Year 8: Ben Evans.
