New benches take a back seat

PRUDHOE Town Council will not be investing in any more public seating until a list of seats in urgent need of repair or replacement has been produced.

The move was proposed at the last town council meeting by Coun. Lorna Garrett, who also suggested drawing up a list of associated costs.

At the moment, the town has 28 public seats, maintained through a council budget of £2,000.

The issue has been referred to the council’s contracting works committee for consideration.
