A MARRIED couple were welcomed as ministers in the Tynedale Methodist Church Circuit in a service last week.

Paul and Alex Dunstan were joined by the Rev. Stephen Lindridge, chair of the Newcastle Methodist District, for the service at Hexham Trinity Methodist Church.

Paul is the new circuit superintendent with responsibility for overseeing Tynedale, and has particular responsibility for Hexham West End, Acomb and Langley Methodist Churches.

Alex is a probationer minister with responsibility for Haltwhistle, Allendale, Catton, Keenley and Sparty Lea.

Paul, who is originally from Yorkshire, said: “The ceremony was superb. We got to meet people from many different churches and places and were welcomed well and truly into the life of the circuit.”

The couple moved to Tynedale from their previous post in the Birmingham circuit, which has meant quite a lifestyle change for them.

Paul added: “Previously we had only been here on holiday. It’s very different from Birmingham, but we love the area already.

“We are no strangers to the rural lifestyle as we once worked in Cumbria, where there were both urban and rural areas. We are enjoying the lifestyle here and are settling in very easily.”

The couple began work on September 1, and Paul said their initial plans are to get to know as many people as possible and make Jesus known in the community.

Alex added: “We have settled in really well and we love the area. I love walking and being in the outdoors, so this is a lovely place for us to live and work.

“There are some beautiful churches in the Allen Valleys and the people we have met have been very friendly. It is a privilege to be part of these communities.”
