HEXHAM’S historic Moot Hall has had many uses over the 700-odd years it has stood guard over the Market Place.
Built in the late 14th or early 15th century, on the site of an earlier structure from stone taken from the bed of the Tyne, it has been a gateway, a hall of justice, a library and a dwelling for the town bailiff, as well as housing a chapel, a gaol and a court.
But it now has yet another role, following its licensing as a wedding venue.
The first wedding there took place last month between Haltwhistle couple Geoff and Wendy Gowland.
