THE Met Office has released a yellow weather warning for much of Wales, Northern Ireland Scotland, and Northern England - including the Tyne Valley.
The warning for snow and ice is the least severe of the Met Office's weather warnings, but they are still advising travellers to leave extra time for their journeys.
More snow is expected throughout the week, which is predicted to be one of the coldest of the winter so far.
Met Office chief forecaster Frank Saunders said: “We’re in for a cold week ahead with freezing conditions overnight and a little snow for many parts of the UK at some point.
"On Tuesday night we could see temperatures as low as -11C.
"There are a number of national severe weather warnings in place and we would urge everyone to stay up to date with the latest forecast.”
The weather warning is in place from 8pm on Monday night until 3pm on Tuesday afternoon.
