LOOKING ahead to June, the big event will be the Slaley and Healey Parish Wander on Sunday, June 12, when lots of people will be visiting 17 gardens, four churches, each with its own exhibition, and three businesses.

Tickets are available in advance or on the day, and there will be a trail map to be collected on production of tickets from Slaley Commemoration Hall on the day. Call Pat Wilson or Ros Doonan on (01434) 673388/673173 for more details.

THE film club had the “not quite last” film of its 12th season last week; a lovely film showing the value of friendship, and some tears were shed at the lovers’ parting.

There will be an extra film on Wednesday, June 15, set in the legendary city of Timbuktu.

ON Saturday, the Rose & Crown will be holding a celebration from 6.30pm to launch and name a new real ale.

This will also mark the return of Bernard, who has now settled happily back in as the head chef, producing quality food of a high standard. Please come along and support your local pub.

THE volunteer for the medicine run for next Thursday will be Anne Lishman.

FINALLY, to repeat my appeal from February, would anyone else like to take a turn at writing these Slaley notes? It would be shared with the other correspondent, so it’s only once a fortnight.
