Abby Armstrong’s birdhouse blueprints have become a reality at Hexham’s Woodland Rise.
The six-year-old Hexham East First School pupil was crowned the winner of a competition to design a birdhouse, organised by housing developer David Wilson Homes.
Judges selected Abby’s design as the winner due to her creativity and the amount of thought she put into building a comfortable home for birds.
As her prize, the young designer received a voucher and visited the Woodland Rise development to see her design made real.
Abby’s birdhouse has been installed in the showhome garden at the Corbridge Road site.
Sales manager at Woodland Rise Ashlea Wright said: “It’s been great to see Abby’s winning design become a reality and we’re delighted that she’s happy with the final birdhouse.
“David Wilson Homes always looks to support the communities in which it builds its developments, and this initiative has been particularly beneficial, as it’s encouraged young people to explore their creativity as well as providing a great home for the local birds!”
